We first looked into handling the “nanny tax” process ourselves, but all the forms,
deadlines, instructions and legal nuances were intimidating. Trying to do it ourselves
in our limited free time was a burden we didn’t want to take on – especially in
our sleep deprived state. So, we searched for a firm that could handle it all for
us – payroll management, tax filing, and employment law guidance – and eliminate
our work, worry and risk.
We couldn’t find what we were looking for. So we decided to build it.
After many months of research and planning, we took the exhilarating yet terrifying
entrepreneurial leap. We quit our jobs at Ernst & Young and Andersen Consulting
and founded Breedlove & Associates. Our mission was to provide these services expertly,
efficiently and affordably so we could free families from the tedious paperwork—not
to mention the financial and legal risks—associated with household employment.
It was the second-best decision we ever made.
Since then, we’ve served almost 20,000 families in all 50 states, processed more
than $1.5 billion in household payroll, and become the go-to experts in this highly-specialized,
exceedingly-nuanced segment of tax and labor law. Now hundreds of CPAs, financial
managers, trust managers, and household staffing agencies confidently refer clients
to us for answers, advice and service.
We’re extremely grateful to all the wonderful families over the years that have
put their faith in us. We remind ourselves every day of our mission to serve busy
families – and we’re proud to play a role in making life a little easier.
